In this blog, we delve into the significance of cloud assessments in the context of cloud migrations, remediations, and application modernisation.
The cloud journey is a process, and in order to be successful, it’s imperative to comprehend the composition of the current environment, no matter the business level of cloud maturity. As many businesses rely on cloud consultants, it is imperative that the consultants, alongside the company, understand the environment they are managing, migrating, remediating, optimising or modernising. This is true of legacy, hybrid, single cloud or multi-cloud environments.
In order to move quickly, one must move safely. Assessments provide the parameters and frameworks needed to do this strategically. The result is a systematic plan encompassing the timelines, action points and tooling required for a successful cloud transformation. It’s important to note that all environments are complex dynamic ecosystems. As the business changes, so too does the environment. As such, assessments serve as a snapshot in time. Referring to older assessments when making decisions may not be practical, especially when the environment was moved from the desired trajectory, intentionally or not, meaning you may need to redo assessments at different points in your cloud journey to recalibrate.
